Biography.
Jane is an accomplished creator – having a background in Patchwork and Quilting to diploma level and has enjoyed sharing her work at local and regional level.
Artist Statement.
My artistic perspective is inspired by the outdoors. The shifting beauty of the natural world, the changing of the seasons and the transformative power of light. These elements guide my creative process, inviting me to observe and respond to the rhythms and changes of nature.
Whilst I work across mixed media, textiles are where I most like to explore. Stitching to me is a meditative process and a visual language. It allows me to create surfaces which are rich in texture, with hand embroidered detail for extra expression.
My process often begins outdoors, collecting objects and images. The textures, colours and visual moments found in landscapes fuel my experimentation. These observations become the foundation for studio exploration, where layers of material and colour can invite me the creator and you the viewer, to reflect on and connect with nature.
Ultimately, my work serves as an invitation to pause and think about our environment, a small gesture towards the beauty, power and quiet wonder found in the natural world all around us.
